Songs for Schools!
The Silly School Education Youtube Channel has just passed the 2,000,000 views mark. We can’t believe it. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported over the past year. We’re so grateful! We’ve worked so hard trying to make the songs and animations the best they can possibly be.
Songs for Schools – All Over the World!
When we first set up the channel, just over a year ago, it was really just for the children in Trisha’s school. Something to keep them occupied during lockdown. So it really has been amazing to us that now we have teachers all over the world using our educational songs and animations in their classrooms.
We’re based in Cambridge, UK and according to the stats page we’ve got views in places as far away as Nepal and Cambodia! Which is really quite mind-blowing.
Songs for Schools – Phonics Songs
When we started out we were mainly making phonics videos for EYFS as the reception teachers weren’t very happy with the songs they could find online. It was pretty tricky to be honest, it wasn’t a subject I’d personally dealt with before and some of those sounds are pretty tricky to get right. Fortunately Trish has taught reception class and with the help of the teachers we managed to create some really fun phonics songs with pure sounds. If you’d like to have a listen or find out more on website via this link.
Now we have over fifty phonics songs across three playlists on the channel and we’ve had some great feedback about them. Here’s a few examples of the comments we’ve had on our Instagram page (no one can comment on the actual Youtube videos because they’re set for “kids”) and you can check out a ton of feedback here on our testimonials page.
If you haven’t checked out theses amazing phonics songs – please do! My class and I adore them. Even through lockdown they’re still watching them!
“I played this for my daughter today as we were practising digraphs. She loved it. Thank you!”
“Cannot wait to use them in my phonics lessons.”
Songs for Schools – Grammar Songs
Next up we decided to write some grammar songs for KS1 and KS2. Turns out my grammar wasn’t quite as good as I thought it was but Trisha’s (being a year 6 teacher for a good few years now) is excellent. So I wrote a bunch of grammar songs, Trisha corrected my mistakes and I learned a lot. Now we have a whole range grammar songs covering all types of nouns, verbs, adjectives and punctuation on our channel.
“Silly School Education strikes again with their song about nouns! Jack was singing the song as he stamped the nouns!”
“Silly School Education helping us with our adjectives knowledge. Here is one channel you should check out on Youtube!”
Songs for Schools – Maths Songs
We have multiplication songs for all the numbers from 2 through to 12, songs about adding, songs about subtraction songs, songs about prime numbers and much. We have maths songs for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
“Silly School Education helped me learn my 8 times tables” (William aged 8 1/2)
“My class have been loving your songs!”
Songs for Schools – Science Songs
We’ve tried really, really hard to make our science songs for schools both entertaining and interesting. I LOVE science now but when I was a kid, I must admit, I found it rather boring. So we figured that it was really important that we wrote some science songs that really grabbed the children’s attention.
“My class LOVED listening to your living/non living song! They were all joining in by the end, it’s a brilliant song to support my teaching!”
“Dare you to not get this song stuck in your head!”
Songs for Schools – Geography Songs
Try writing a song about the water cycle. Honestly it’s not easy fitting all the important elements of the primary curriculum into a two minute rock song. Someone we managed it! These songs seem to be getting more and more popular, especially the songs about the Five Oceans, Seven Continents and the United Kingdom.
“Love these silly songs from Silly School Education.”
“These songs from Silly School Education are ace!”
Songs for School – Songs About the Seasons and Time
These songs cover everything a child needs to know about days, weeks, months, years and seasons. There is a song for each season to teach the children the difference between spring, summer, autumn (fall – yes, we have America covered!) and winter. We also have songs that teach children the days of the week which are perfect for early learners. They are simple and direct but more importantly, great fun to dance and sing to. The Days of the Week seems to be a big hit with the reception classes.
“These are great thanks for sharing!”
“Funny! The children at school would love these!”
Songs for Schools – Wake Up Song
Out of all the songs we’ve written and uploaded to our Silly School Education Youtube Channel by far the most popular (so far) isn’t educational! Trisha’s school asked for a ‘wake up’ song as they’d had enough of ‘Wake Up Shake Up’, and we came up with “The Wake Up Song” (ok it’s not the most original title – I’ll give you that).
Since we uploaded it in January slowly become more and more popular and now it’s at nearly 300,000 views! Which we’re absolutely flabbergasted about but of course very happy. Try it out on your class – it gets faster and faster and faster until it’s almost impossible to keep up with. The kids seem to love it.
“My class have been loving your songs!”
“Wow I love these! What a great resource! x”
