Plus, your body gets a boost from an exercise-induced increase in hormone levels that makes you feel more energized…..In a study done at the University of British Columbia, researchers found that regular aerobic exercise, the kind that gets your heart pumping, appears to boost the size of the hippocampus, the brain area involved in verbal memory and learning.” – Harvard Medical School

It’s had half a million views in the last year, 2000+ thumbs up so far and people seem to be watching it from all over the world. It’s seem that children from Bhutan to Belgium like being silly first thing in the morning as much as the kids in our sleepy English village.

It’s a very silly wake up song that has you jumping, clapping, dancing, standing up, sitting down, barking like a dog and flying like a bird and more. It’s also gets faster and faster, which the kids seem to find hilarious. Check it out below or head straight to our Silly School Education Youtube Channel or find out more here!

Five Great Wake Up Songs for Kids – Number Two!

“The Wake Up Dance” by Out of the Ark Music

The classic! If you’re going to make a list of the five best wake up songs on the internet you’ve got to include this one. Everyone who works in a primary school in the United Kingdom must have heard the immortal lines “Wake up, wake up, give yourself a shake up….” a fair few times in their career.  The really little ones love this song and, in fact, the only reason we actually wrote our own wake up song was that the teachers in Trisha’s school had listened to this so many times it was driving them barmy. The song was a victim of it’s own success in this case.

Here’s how “Out of the Ark” describe it :

“Wake Up! is a great song for singing first thing in the morning and waking everyone up! It will certainly get all the children in your class moving and make sure that a good dose of oxygen reaches the brain to focus minds on the challenges ahead and promote wellbeing. This primary school song will definitely start the day off in an energetic, positive way!” – And we’d agree.

Five Great Wake Up Songs for Kids – Number Three!

“Move with Me” by The Learning Station

The song has got some funk to it and tries to get every part of your body moving, from your head to your toes and features a rather groovy looking slightly older gentlemen who is rocking bracers and a train drivers cap.

Here’s how “The Learning Station” describe it :

““Move with Me” is a great brain break, exercise, fitness, dance and action song for children. It makes it easy and fun to take a quick energy brain break in the classroom. More and more schools are realizing the significant values of brain breaks, actions songs, dance songs, fitness and exercise for kids in the classroom. This popular brain break, exercise, dance, fitness and action song for kids is perfect for the preschool, kindergarten and elementary children. Lyrics are included for early readers, EFL programs for children and ESL programs for children.”

Five Great Wake Up Songs for Kids – Number Four!

“Exercise Song” by ITS Music

If you’re looking for something that is a little bit more gentle this song by ITS Music is perfect. Yes there’s a fair bit of jumping and squatting  but it’s all presented to a rather relaxed backing track if you’re looking for something a little less strenuous. Although to be fair their instruction to “Hop on the spot don’t stop until the music ends then start again” does give the calf muscle a bit of a roasting. It’s had over a million views on Youtube!

Here’s how “ITS Music” describe it :

“Get ready to get active! Exercise can be fun, especially when you sing along! “
